Goalkeeper David Forde has pledged his future to Millwall today, and signed a three year deal with the club.
The Republic of Ireland No 1’s current contract expires at the end of this month, and he is now contracted up with us until the end of the 2016/17 season having first joined us back in 2008.
Our Player of the Year has been in good form over the last few seasons and there was some worry that he might move on, but obviously manager Ian Holloway’s plans for the club have helped sway the decision.
Since joining us, he has gone on to make 279 appearances for the club, and will no doubt next season pass the 300 mark milestone for us.
Speaking to the official site after penning the deal, 34 year old Forde explained.
‘I’m absolutely delighted. I suppose it’s been an ongoing saga. Because of where the club was towards the end of the season, with the new manager coming in, it was a bit prolonged. I’m chuffed that we’ve managed to get it sorted and it’s great to be signed. Going forward I think we can be really successful.’
Forde goes on to say that he feels that with how we ended the season, something is starting to ‘bubble’ again at the club, and he can’t wait to be a part of that and hopefully put an end to our relegation worries, and start kicking on up the table to challenge for promotion.
