Goalkeeper David Forde has said that the camp are confident of securing survival in our final game of the season when we face Bournemouth this weekend.
With Birmingham losing their midweek game, we head into the final Championship round of fixtures for 2013-14 knowing that a win would guarantee us survival this season irrespective of what happens elsewhere, as we are two points clear of Birmingham in 22nd place.
A draw might be enough, but we would then need other results to go our way, and speaking to the official site our goalkeeper knows that being on the back of a seven game unbeaten run, and safety being in our hands, is a big boost for us.
‘I’ve been involved in a lot of these games where results elsewhere may have an impact, whether that be at the top end in the play offs or nearer the bottom in terms of relegation. No matter what is happening everywhere else we know what we need to do. Personally I feel very confident that we can do it, whereas last year we were struggling for form and getting over the line was proving incredibly difficult.’
Forde goes on to say that thankfully we have found some form at the right time to have given ourselves every chance of getting out of the mess we created, but he knows it would be galling to waste our seven match unbeaten spell and the results we have gained, by letting it slip at the final hurdle.
The Den is looking at one of its biggest attendance figures for the season with advanced ticket sales already hitting the 12,000 mark and Forde himself comments on the difference the fans can make in the game, and hopefully everyone will be going home with a smile on their face and some renewed hope for a more comfortable campaign next time round.
