Millwall skipper Tony Craig has called on the squad to ‘get the job done’ against Bristol Rovers this weekend with a Play Off spot up for grabs.
With back to back defeats in recent matches not seeing Millwall lose ground in the battle for a Play Off spot with us remaining one point ahead of Southend United and two ahead of Rochdale, the ‘uncharacteristic performance’ against Oxford United had disappointed everyone.
With Bristol Rovers up on Sunday though, Craig told the official site that it remained in our hands and given the opportunity we have we simply have to take what would be a ‘season defining’ result to secure a season extension.
‘Thankfully our fate is still in our hands. We didn’t do well enough against Oxford, we all know that. It was a performance that was very unlike us – especially at The Den. The good thing is that we have a great group of lads here and they can bounce back quickly. It’s now up to us to go and define our season. We will have a big backing of Lions fans travelling to Bristol and that will be really important. Hopefully we can give them a good performance and pay our fans back for their excellent support this season.’
Making the trip to the Memorial Stadium for the game Craig knows won’t be an easy task though as they haven’t lost on home soil in the past 12 matches and they can potentially welcome back a number of players from injury for the tie as well.
‘If you look at Bristol’s home record they are right up there in the League. They are technically a very good side and have a few battlers in there as well. But we have to go there full of confidence and get the job done.’
