Midfielder Shane Ferguson has now signed a new long term contract with Millwall.
The 25 year old former Newcastle United man yesterday penned terms on a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2019, and the Northern Irishman has now made 52 starting appearances for us, with a further 29 appearances from the bench having first arrived at the club on loan back in the 2015/16 season.
With a return of six goals in that time, this year he’s made 35 appearances for manager Neil Harris with three of his goals coming this campaign.
Speaking to the official site after penning his new deal, the player explained.
‘It was an easy decision for me. The boys in the team, the coaching staff and the fans have all made me feel at home here and I am excited to be staying. We have had some good results lately and I am glad to get my contract extension out of the way so I can focus wholeheartedly on the rest of the season.’
Boss Harris said that for him getting the deal over the line had been a ‘top priority’ given his importance to us this year.
‘Shane adds real quality to our team, is a tremendous lad and a terrific professional. He’s a big part of our squad, whether that is part of the starting line-up or from the bench, at left-back or on the wing. We had to be patient to bring Shane to the club last season and he’s been outstanding during his time with us and long may that continue.’
