The February nominations for the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month Award are:
Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town) – striker
Six goals in four games for the predatory 24-year-old. His knack of being in the right place saw him score twice against Colchester United and a hat-trick against Blackpool, while a brilliant free-kick against Peterborough United proved his versatility.
Jordan Archer (Millwall) – goalkeeper
The reliable last line in a Millwall defence which conceded just three goals in five games. A commanding presence, positionally sound, he even had the presence of mind to spectacularly head over a Mark Beevers backpass against Peterborough United.
James Hanson (Bradford City) – striker
Back to his dominating best in February, Hanson scored with three towering headers, two in his 300th game for Bradford in the 4-0 win at Peterborough United. A magnificent sight in the air as he bullies opponents into submission.
Alfie Mawson (Barnsley) – central defender
Freed from the burdens of captaincy, the 22-year-old has rediscovered his best form. Dominant in a defence which let in just three goals all month and comfortable on the ball, he scored a stunning free-kick in the 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra.
Winners will be announced on Friday 11th March 2016.
