Manager Ian Holloway was full of praise for the team following their opening day victory over Leeds United.

Goals from Mark Beevers and Shaun Williams from the penalty spot secured us a good opening day win and a richly deserved one to following the performance of the team.

Speaking to the official site following the game, the gaffer beamed.

‘It was a fantastic day all round. It was a big day for Millwall and I’m so proud of the club and the players, who were all delighted in the dressing room. They kept going and going and that helped to create an electric atmosphere. It caps off a great pre season for us. The lads have been working their socks off and that showed. We played well and Leeds played well, but we managed to win.’

Holloway goes on to say that the second goal in the game was always going to be crucial because he felt if it went their way the momentum we had built up might have been undone, but forging on and getting it ourselves made for a comfortable finish in the end.

The clean sheet would have been of particular delight to the team and manager because it ultimately means we have achieved the aim we set ourselves of continuing our unbeaten run from last season and that in itself will be a huge positive for everyone.

Now onto the midweek game against Wycombe, hopefully the start of a Cup run, and a continuation of this unbeaten spell. Ollie does add though that he will make changes and give other people a chance to stake their claim in this game.
