Millwall striker Aiden O’Brien has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for October.

The young Irishman, who plays with a permanent smile on his face, opened his bag of mercurial tricks in October. Able to go past defenders with ease, he scored three goals while switching positions between attack and the wing.

Millwall manager Neil Harris said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for young Aiden to win the Player of the Month award.

“We have had a real upturn in our performances with some great results of late and Aiden’s form has been a big part of that.

“He is a terrific young man, a real infectious character, and he plays with desire and enthusiasm. We are all witnessing his ability at the moment.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “O’Brien was on fire for the first half of the month, with goals and assists in every game.

“It’s no coincidence that The Lions’ turnaround in form has coincided with his best run of games for the club.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Aiden O’Brien’s three goals in October helped the Lions to three wins from four games taking them to seventh in the table.

“The Millwall youth product is making the most of getting regular game time up front for his boyhood team and will be hoping he can keep on scoring to bring Championship football to the Den next season. Millwall are 4/1 to be promoted this season.”
