With James Meredith announced officially earlier today, the arrival of Wimbledon striker Tom Elliott was also confirmed by the club.
The 26 year old completed his medical at The Den this afternoon and put pen to paper on a two year deal that will come into force on July 1.
Speaking to the official site as he was confirmed as a new signing, manager Neil Harris explained.
‘Tom’s a player I’ve admired for some time now. We’ve had local allegiances with Wimbledon, so I’ve been able to watch him a few times. I’m really pleased to bring him in. He’s a target man who has progressed really well under Neal Ardley over the last two years and has developed into a physical player with a good goalscoring record. Tom comes in and adds fight to the front line. We’re putting a squad together that’s giving us competition for places. It’s a good day for the football club.’
The 6’4′ player got himself on the scoresheet in the two all draw between both sides back in January and last season he found the net a total of 13 times.
Speaking himself, he couldn’t wait to get start at the club.
‘I’m buzzing! Since I met the manager, I’ve been excited to get going. I’m raring to go and I can’t wait to start the season. The Championship is a step up – it’s a bigger level – but I’m looking forward to testing myself.’
He went on to add.
‘I spoke to Paul Robinson before signing on and he gave me a bigger picture of the club and some tips. The manager also showed his passion and his plans for the club when we spoke. That’s why I’m here now – I’m so excited. I want to be a part of this club and I’m sure I can learn a lot from Neil, as a former striker himself.’
