Full back Carlos Edwards has received the worst possible news as scans on Monday revealed that he had sustained significant knee damage.
The right back fell awkwardly in a challenge with Britt Assombalonga in the game last weekend against Nottingham Forest, and after seven minutes of the game elapsing he had to be stretchered from the field with many fearing the worst.
Physio Bobby Bacic has told the official site.
‘Carlos has had a scan and, as feared, it has shown that he has significant knee ligament disruption, involving the cruciate and lateral ligaments. He has also sustained a rupture to the hamstring muscle.’
Bacic continues to say that Edwards will now be meeting with a specialist (today) with view to undergoing surgery to correct the problems and enable him to return as speedily as he can, but if that ‘disruption’ means a polite ‘rupture’ then it is most likely his season over unfortunately.
Obviously that would be a blow to the player and the club.
