Having made sufficient recovery from the knee injury he picked up back in September 2014, Carlos Edwards has now signed a short term deal until January.
The 36 year old has been back in training since the beginning of pre season and has made good strides so far, so manager Neil Harris has taken the option of signing him back up with the club as he was out of contract last summer, but clearly he’s been impressive in his under 21 run outs this year.
With the deal done, he does come into potential contention for the Chesterfield hosting at The Den this weekend.
Speaking to the official site Harris explained.
‘It’s been a long and hard recovery for Carlos after what was a nasty injury. He has attacked his rehab with ultimate professionalism and the belief that he would make a full recovery and he has shown tremendous will power and determination. Carlos has achieved every goal that has been set for him up until now and I’m delighted that he has committed himself to us in the immediate short-term after proving his fitness levels. His next task is to force his way back into the squad and into the starting line-up.’
Having joined us initially on loan from Ipswich Town back in March 2014, he signed a permanent deal that summer before the injury hit and has 16 appearances to his name so far, with a return of one goal.
