Willie Donachie believes Millwall must go back to basics if they are to win their relegation battle.

Lions caretaker boss Donachie watched his side slump to a 2-0 defeat against Swansea on Sunday.

But he is adamant the players are good enough to pull clear of the bottom four if they concentrate on working hard for each other.

The loss in south Wales ended Donachie’s four-match unbeaten record since he replaced Nigel Spackman.

But he said: ‘It had to come at some time, it was too early as far as I’m concerned, but I knew it was going to be hard today.

‘For the first goal, sometimes you get them, sometimes you don’t. I believe they even themselves out but I believe it was a free kick on this occasion.

‘In the second half we showed some passion and went for it, but it was too late.

‘We’ve just got to get back to what we’ve been doing the last four games, keeping it simple and working for each other.

‘Sometimes you’ve got to be brave and say they’re a strong team with good players and we lost.

‘They’re the best team we’ve come up against, so we shouldn’t be too upset.’
