Millwall have today signed 25 year old right back Shaun Cummings from Reading.
The defender played a key part in their promotion to the Premier League back in 2011-12 and played nine times for them the following season in the top flight, but he has struggled to nail down a permanent spot at the Madejski Stadium in recent times, and he moves to us on a two and a half year contract.
Speaking to the official site as the signing was confirmed, manager Ian Holloway explained.
‘Nigel Gibbs has worked with Shaun before so he knows exactly what we are getting. He can play at wing back or at right back and he can run all day long. He can attack and he played in a team that got promoted out of this division. We’re delighted to have Shaun on board as I think he can be a real asset for us.’
Speaking himself having now made the move, Cummings said.
‘This is a very good club and that is why I came here. I’m very pleased to be here. The position in the league isn’t where we should be so hopefully as a club we can step on. It’s going to be an important time between now and the end of the season. From a personal point of view I want to hit the ground running straight away and play how I know I can play.’
