Club skipper Tony Craig has said it’s down to the players to learn quickly from the mistakes we made in the four nil loss to Coventry City at the weekend and we simply have to restore some pride when we host Barnsley at The Den on Tuesday evening.

Speaking in his pre game programme notes as carried by the official site today, Craig said that with three goals conceded in only 18 first half minutes, clearly improvement is required and we have to take the quick chance to respond we are given with the midweek game.

‘As players we have to take responsibility for it and I can totally understand how the fans must have felt watching it. What is important for us now is to learn from what happened on Saturday as quickly as possible. Quite rightly we were all in on Sunday morning to assess what went wrong, and fortunately from our point of view we have an opportunity to put things right straight away. We will have to stick together as a group and show our determination to turn things round. It’s down to us to man up and restore some pride by putting in a proper Millwall display against Barnsley.’

Whilst it’s still very early on in the season, that kind of showing certainly wasn’t what anybody hoped for after our relegation last term and certainly not the response manager Neil Harris would’ve wanted following the Capital One Cup defeat to Barnet either.

A double loss at home needs a line drawn under it and hopefully that will come against Barnsley, but having won this weekend themselves they will come into the game with some confidence, so it’s not going to be an easy one and if changes are made the youngsters will need to hit the ground running.
