Following the victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend, assistant gaffer Marc Bircham revealed he will be joining Frank Yallop at Chicago Fire in the MLS and departing The Den.
Our former midfielder joined up with Ian Holloway’s backroom team lasy year, and whilst he told the official site that leaving was a very difficult decision, he knows it’s a wonderful opportunity that he can’t really turn down.
‘This was a very hard decision to make because I really feel there are good times ahead for Millwall under Ollie. But I had almost gone to the MLS earlier in my career, and this time, when the chance came up it just seemed like such a great opportunity for myself and my family. I’m sure Millwall will stay up this season and I will always look forward to coming back to The Den.’
Chief executive officer Andy Ambler said that Bircham would depart with everyone’s best wishes and thanks for his efforts, and revealed that first team coach Nigel Gibbs will now take on the assistant gaffer mantle.
