Chairman John Berylson has praised the club’s supporters and the squad as we move closer to 2016, and Fred Onyedinma wants to make it his year following his individual performance against Southend.

Beginning with Berylson, he told the official site that he was looking forward to seeing what 2016 had in store for us given the way that the side was now beginning to perform under Neil Harris.

‘Firstly the fans have been marvellous. I think they recognise that we’re trying to build a team. We have a strategy and we intend to stick to it. I like to know years in advance that we have a good team, which I do. I want one or two young lads coming out of the Academy each year who can play and I want to know that at any point in time we are only looking for one or two players, not five or six.’

With Southend and a four nil scoreline being the most recent match, and with it putting Millwall within three points of the top six, Berylson went on to say that he was optimistic moving forward.

‘It’s a long season and we’re seeing things which give us a lot of hope for what could occur in the second half. This was going to be a rebuilding year and that is proving to be the case. The fans are seeing exactly what Neil is trying to do. I look forward to 2016. Whatever happens will happen but the key is to build a stronger team and the results will at some point prove themselves.’

As for Onyedinma in his own interview following Southend, he was obviously delighted to have played such a key role in the victory and to have found himself on the scoresheet, but he wants more now going into the New Year.

‘The gaffer spoke to me before the game and told me to just go out there and enjoy myself, which I did. I hadn’t scored for a bit and my target is to do so in every game so I was delighted to get one against Southend.’

Speaking about his recent form and his role in the team, he went on to say.

‘I’m here to attack and try to create opportunities, which I probably wasn’t doing five games ago but now, hopefully, I can show what I’ve got again. In my position things won’t go my way all the time. It won’t work some days but on others it will, so I just get on and keep doing what I’m doing with a positive attitude.’
