Nicky Bailey won’t be back in contention for the first team until after the international break in September following a recent breakdown.
The midfielder was ruled out of last night’s game against Sheffield Wednesday after suffering a reaction in his calf following the Fulham game, and he will now have a course of injections to try and correct the problem properly and that will mean a lay off for a few weeks.
Speaking to the official site physio Bobby Bacic explained.
‘He will be ruled out until after the international break. Nicky can and is willing to play with the calf as it is, only giving him minor discomfort. However, our worry is that if we keep pushing Nicky through, it will gradually get worse and we may not have the luxury of an international break to give us the extra time for the injections to be successful.’
Bacic also confirmed that there was good news for fellow injured midfielder Ed Upson, saying that he is making very good progress following his hamstring injury and he’s now doing end stage outdoor rehab, so if all goes well, it shouldn’t be too long before he rejoins the main group as well.
