Goalkeeper Jordan Archer has praised the performance levels of his colleagues following him being nominated for the London Football Awards.

The other day manager Neil Harris was nominated for the Manager of the Year category at the Annual event and Archer found himself nominated in the Goalkeeper of the Year category.

Speaking to the official site yesterday to acknowledge the nomination, Archer was quick to point to his colleagues for their performances this year in helping him to the nomination.

‘I am pleased and honoured to be nominated alongside some fantastic goalkeepers.’

Archer finds himself nominated alongside the likes of Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and former Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris in the category, whilst Harris is up against the likes of Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino.

For Archer of course two clean sheets against Premier League opposition and Millwall’s progress to the final 16 of the FA Cup will certainly have helped but he wasn’t going to take all the credit.

‘I can only thank the boys in front of me, they have limited the opposition to very few scoring opportunities over the last month or two. It’s great that I am being recognised for the past year but it wouldn’t be possible without the team. But to be honest I don’t care too much for personal accolades, I am more interested in getting the team back into the Championship division.’

With Southend United up next in League One at the weekend and with Millwall having a free midweek slot, the 23 year old went on to say he felt that would help us and give us an ‘edge’.

‘It’s important that everyone is rested and ready to go again because we have a very busy period ahead. But I know we have the quality to get through this difficult period and push up the table. We have a big squad and there is strong competition for every single spot. That is crucial when you’re fighting for promotion.’
