Millwall’s Jordan Archer has been called up by Scotland interim manager Malky Mackay for the coming international break.

The next break of the 2017/18 campaign in November sees Scotland face a friendly against the Netherlands on Thursday November 9.

Having named his squad for the game, with his own future questionable in the role, Mackay called eight uncapped players into the squad and he told the BBC.

‘They want to come and play for Scotland and show that passion to go and get 50 caps for their country. That’s the challenge I give them.’

The eight uncapped are Graeme Shinnie, Ryan Christie, Jason Cummings, Ryan Jack, Paul Hanlon, Callum McGregor, Jordan Archer and Liam Cooper and three get their maiden call ups.

Of the players to miss out, Darren Fletcher and Leigh Griffiths have now been ruled out with injury having been previously selected and a number of others have been overlooked.

Should Mackay decide to replace Fletcher and Griffiths given only two named for the forward position, you’d expect that to be confirmed later today.
