With the one all draw with Bradford City now behind us, it’s all eyes to the FA Cup fourth round tie against Watford next weekend.
Defender Byron Webster was in front of the official site this week with the players in training ahead of the clash and he was expecting a very tough test but an enjoyable one.
‘We know what to expect against them. They’re a good, large side and everyone is looking forward to the challenge.’
With an average height in their side of 6′ 1′ the arrival the other day of Jake Cooper as one of our two loanees this month gives us a boost on that front with him being 6 ‘ 6’.
Having made his debut against Bradford Webster also gave a few thoughts on him.
‘He only had one real training session under his belt before the match and he was fantastic for us. He’s solid, a threat in the air and a target from set-plays. He will add to the depth of the squad and will only get better once he’s more familiar with the boys in the team.’
It wasn’t just Cooper who arived ahead of the game at the weekend though, joining him on a spell until the end of the current campaign is the returning Jed Wallace from Wolverhampton Wanderers and he could make his full debut this weekend following his subtitute appearance against Bradford as our new No 14 and we of course have the option of a permanent deal come the summer.
Cooper of course came in on loan until the end of the campaign from Reading and wore the No 24 at the weekend.
With neither player representing their parent clubs in the FA Cup third round ties, both could make full FA Cup debuts as well.
Just to complete the round up – goalkeeper Tom King also signed a new deal until the summer of 2018 last Friday and fellow youngster, but forward, Alfie Pavey headed out to Hampton and Richmond Borough on a 28 day youth loan last week.
